Vintage 2003:
  • 93 - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/06

Ripe, rich and classic, this Cab strikes you with the flashy opulence of its cassis and new-oak flavors and balance of acids and tannins. It's so rich, and delicious, with a chocolate fudge finish that lasts and lasts. Just beautiful now, and should age for ten years. — S.H. (12/1/2006)

  • 92 - Wine Advocate - Dec 2006

The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Vineyard George III reveals a similar
color as well as a more nuanced nose offering notions of graphite, licorice,
creme de cassis, and spice box than the regular bottling. Again, there is an
over-riding sense of elegance in addition to authoritative flavors, tannin, and
definition in this medium to full-bodied effort. It can be drunk now or cellared
    for 12-15 years. —Robert Parker

From its almost opaque and glass-staining color to its extracted aromas and tannic, highly-ripened flavors, this very big-bodied wine is all about muscle and mass. Happily, it is not without a good bit of Cabernet fruit to go with its chocolaty ripeness and abundant oak, and, given four to six years of patience, it stands a good chance of growing in both beauty and range. Very limited availability.Medium Red. Balanced, good depth, medium tannin. Beef and lamb.Cellar for future drinking. Wine will improve with bottle aging.$48.00
